Nihonmachi Street Fair Designated as a SF Legacy Business

On April 22nd, 2024 the Nihonmachi Street Fair was officially designated as a San Francisco Legacy Business! This prestigious status recognizes our cultural significance and contributions to the Japantown community.

Grateful to the Small Business Commission and Historic Preservation Commission, the Office of Small Business’ Legacy Business Program (Richard Kurylo) and Nikki Yoshikawa for bestowing us this honor!

This makes the Nihonmachi Street Fair the first organization that produces a festival in our great City to receive this honor!

The Legacy Business program provides vital support to San Francisco’s historic institutions. With rent control and permitting assistance, we can focus on bringing the community together through exceptional cultural celebrations.

The Nihonmachi Street Fair is grateful for the many photographers (Leland Wong, Rich Tokeshi, Mark Shigenaga, William Lee, David Toshiyuki, Sylvia Louie, Denise Naganuma, Evan & Josh Wong, Kats Kitagawa) that continuously capture our events throughout the years. We also wanted to give a huge shout out to Evan & Josh of @giantsrocdaworld for filming awesome footage that shows the world what Nihonmachi Street Fair is all about and what it means to our communities.

Our mission: 
To engage and develop young Asian Pacific American leaders through the development of building community that celebrates our culture and diversity.

As a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization (Tax ID: 94-3088515), the Nihonmachi Street Fair receives a grant from the San Francisco Grants for the Arts but must rely on income generated through advertising revenue, sponsorship and additional fundraising to underwrite fees, expenses, and logistical costs associated with producing this annual community celebration.
